Champa towers and sand-stone statues are the keystone of the Champa architecture. In opposition to the Khmers,Champa people continued to build the brick edifices in spite of the perfect mastery of sand-stone in the decorations and statues. Champa religious architecture was influenced by that of India, which in its general architecture comprises a main temple (or kalan in the cham language) surrounded by additional shrines or monuments. Carving the bricks was a technique done by Champa artists, not by any others in Southeast Asia. |
