Vương Hồng Sển (1902-1996)
Né à Sóc Trăng dans le Sud Vietnam, Vương Hồng Sển était connu non seulement comme un collectionneur d’antiquités mais aussi un homme de grande culture. Dans ses écrits, il parlait de ce qu’il a connu ou il a vécu avec un style à la fois comique et déroutant. Pourtant ceux-ci constituent aujourd’hui un fond documentaire d’une valeur inestimable pour ceux qui aimeraient connaître la culture vietnamienne. Durant sa vie, il a eu l’occasion de collectionner plus de 800 objets en céramique parmi lesquels se trouvaient en grand nombre ceux à décor en deux couleurs (bleu et blanc) et datant de 18 ou 19 ème siècle. Avant sa mort, il a offert sa collection d’objets et tous ses écrits à l’Etat dans le seul but de pouvoir les préserver intégralement et d’apporter sa contribution à la recherche et à la sauvegarde du patrimoine culturel national.

Being born at Sóc Trăng in South Vietnam, Vương Hồng Sển was known not only as a art collector but also a man of great culture. In his writings, he talked about what he has known or he has lived with comic and disconcerting style. However these writings are today documentary resources of inestimable value for those who would like to be interested in Vietnamese culture. During his life, he had the opportunity to collect more than 800 pieces of art including a wide number of ceramic objects decorated with blue and white colours in 18th or 19th century. Before his death, he has offered his fine collection of objects and books to State with the aim of giving his contribution to the preservation of the national cultural heritage.

Sinh ở Sóc Trăng thuộc về miền nam Vietnam, Vương Hồng Sển là một nhà nghiên cứu văn hoá và sưu tập cổ vật nổi tiếng ở miền Nam. Trong các tác phẩm của ông, ông thường nói những gì ông hiểu biết và tai nghe mắt thấy với một lối viết văn rất khôi hài và nửa đùa nửa thật khiến người đọc khó quên và dễ say mê. Tuy nhiên những tác phẩm nầy nó mang một giá trị vô giá cho những ai muốn biết và tìm hiểu thêm về văn hóa Việt Nam. Trong suốt cuộc đời, ông đã say mê và thu thập được hơn 800 cổ vật mà trong đó gồm phần đông là các đồ gốm men xanh trắng từ thế kỷ 18 hay 19. Đến cuối đời, ông cống hiến cho nhà nước toàn bộ cổ vật và sách viết với chủ đích để tránh sự thất lạc và bảo tồn văn hóa quốc gia.
